Privacy policy

Your garden stays on your phone.

ThymeIt has no account system, no server and no analytics. This policy explains what the app stores, where, and what you can do about it.

Effective October 12, 2026

The short version

  • We don’t collect, receive or sell any information about you.
  • There’s no account, sign-up, email address or password.
  • Your exact location is never stored or sent anywhere.
  • Your garden is stored on your phone, and in your own iCloud or Google Drive only if you turn on automatic backup.
  • The app contains no advertising or analytics code.

What ThymeIt stores on your phone

To build your garden calendar, the app keeps this in its own storage on your phone:

  • your ZIP code, USDA hardiness zone and local frost dates;
  • the plants you picked, and any names you gave them;
  • your care tasks, including the ones you completed, skipped or turned off;
  • your settings, such as whether reminders and automatic backup are on.

Like other app data, it’s included in your phone’s own device backups (iCloud device backup on iPhone, Google’s device backup on Android) if you use them.

Location

If you choose to share your location during setup or when changing location, the app asks for “while using the app” access, takes one reading, and looks up the nearest ZIP code, zone and frost dates on your phone. The coordinates are then discarded: they are never saved and never leave your phone. You can type a ZIP code instead and never grant location access at all.

Reminders

Task reminders are scheduled on your phone by the operating system. ThymeIt doesn’t use a push notification service, so no device token or schedule is sent anywhere.

Automatic backup (optional)

Automatic backup is off unless you turn it on. When it’s on, the app saves one file, containing the information listed above, to a private folder that only ThymeIt can see in your own account:

  • iPhone: ThymeIt’s private iCloud container, using the iCloud account signed in on your phone.
  • Android: the hidden app data folder of your Google Drive. You sign in with Google, and ThymeIt asks only for access to that folder (drive.appdata), not to your other Drive files.

The file goes directly from your phone to Apple or Google. ThymeIt has no server and never receives a copy. Apple and Google store it under their own privacy terms and encrypt it as part of your account storage; ThymeIt doesn’t add its own encryption.

Garden files you save

Settings → Move to another phone saves your garden as a plain text file and hands it to your phone’s share sheet. Where it goes next (email, a cloud drive, another app) is up to you, under that service’s terms.

What we don’t do

  • No analytics, crash reporting or advertising SDKs.
  • No tracking across apps or websites, and no data shared with data brokers.
  • No in-app purchases today. If paid features are ever added, purchases would be handled by Apple or Google, and this policy would be updated first.

This website doesn’t use cookies or analytics either. It loads its fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address like any web request.

Your choices

  • Use a ZIP code instead of your location.
  • Turn reminders and automatic backup on or off at any time in Settings.
  • Delete everything: delete the app, and your backup if you made one. See how to delete your data.

Children

ThymeIt is a general-audience gardening app. It doesn’t knowingly collect information from anyone, including children, because it doesn’t collect information at all.

Changes to this policy

If what the app stores or shares ever changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top before the change ships.
